PM Modi Writes Foreword for Indian Edition of Giorgia Meloni’s Memoir

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has penned the foreword to the Indian edition of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s memoir, “I Am Giorgia — My Roots, My Principles.” The book, published by Rupa Publications, is set to launch in India soon.

Modi backs Meloni’s memoir

Calling Meloni a “patriot and outstanding contemporary leader,” Modi praised her personal and political journey as one that deeply resonates with the Indian people. Drawing a parallel to his own radio address, he described the autobiography as Meloni’s “Mann Ki Baat.”

In his note, Modi wrote: “It is a great honour to contribute to this book. I do so with respect, admiration and friendship for Prime Minister Meloni. Her inspiring and historic journey will be well received in India as a refreshing story of an outstanding contemporary political leader.”

Reflecting on his decade-long interactions with global leaders, Modi emphasized that Meloni’s story highlights “timeless truths” of resilience, rootedness, and cultural pride. He added that her belief in defending heritage while engaging with the world aligns with India’s own values.

Originally published in Italy, Meloni’s memoir is a candid account of her personal life and political rise. It details her childhood in Rome’s Garbatella neighborhood, her family’s influence, the struggles of her father’s absence, and her early passion for politics. The narrative follows her journey from teenage activism to ministerial roles, her leadership of Fratelli d’Italia and the European Conservatives, culminating in her becoming Italy’s first woman Prime Minister.

The memoir also offers glimpses into Meloni’s personal life—her relationship with partner Andrea, her daughter Ginevra, and her reflections on motherhood, faith, identity, and leadership.

With a mix of candor and conviction, “I Am Giorgia” presents an intimate portrait of a leader whose rise has drawn global attention, now set to engage readers in India with Modi’s endorsement.
